KCKPS teacher charged in child sex case

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An elementary school teacher is facing charges in a child sex crimes case.

Jason Crum, 42, of Shawnee, is charged with sexual exploitation of a child. 

Crum is a third-grade teacher in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools district.

Crum is accused of trying to entice a child under the age of 18 to engage in "sexually explicit conduct" sometime between Jan. 1, 2014 and Jan. 1. 2015.

His bond is set at $100,000. He was released Friday. 

KCKPS sent the following statement to 41 Action News:

Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools was recently made aware of that one of its teachers has been charged with inappropriate behavior involving a child. That individual has been placed on Administrative Leave. KCKPS takes incidents such as these seriously and is cooperating with law enforcement in this matter.
