UPDATE: Just before 2 a.m., police forced their way into the house and arrested three suspects.

Robbery suspects were in a standoff with police in southeast Kansas City Thursday night.

The suspects, two men and a woman, were in a home near Gregory Boulevard and Bales Avenue.

The robberies began near downtown and continued in the Country Club Plaza area and in Brookside.

Police said the suspects used Mace to stun their victims and take their belongings. They also used physical violence to take a woman's dog and drove off in a van.

Officers spotted the van after a robbery in south Kansas City.

A short chase ended when the van crashed and the suspects ran into the house.

Police found the stolen dog in the van after the crash, according to a department spokesman.
