KCPD investigate city's 149th homicide

UPDATE, Oct. 14 | The victim was identified as 62-year-old Ronnie Lawrence.

ORIGINAL STORY, Oct. 12 | Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a homicide Monday night after a dead body was found.

Police responded to the 7400 block of East 79th Street, where a body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

"The body had been exposed for a while and significant trauma was apparent," a KCPD spokesperson said in a statement.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, according to police.

Detectives continue to interview witnesses and are looking for people with information about the death.
