KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating a shooting and possible kidnapping Sunday afternoon in the 2800 block of Lister Avenue.
Around 3 p.m., officers were dispatched on a shooting at that location.
Initially, KCPD was told the shooting was a self-inflicted, accidental shooting. One male victim was found at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The victim told police someone was kidnapped in connection with the shooting.
KCPD later determined the matter was a family dispute and the subject at the center of the unconfirmed kidnapping call was released a couple miles from the shooting scene.
The suspect in the shooting remains at-large.
