KCPD investigating man's death as homicide near U.S. Highway 71 and Red Bridge

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police are investigating a man’s death as a homicide after an incident in south Kansas City.

Around 12:30 a.m. Monday, officers were called to the southbound exit ramp from U.S. 71 to Red Bridge Road on reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Police found a man with injuries near a vehicle that was on the shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police on Tuesday identified the victim as 29-year-old Elliott Herring.

Police said evidence at the scene led investigators to believe the circumstances surrounding his death were suspicious.
