Lawrence man arrested on attempted 2nd degree murder charge

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 26-year-old Lawrence man is being held on an attempted second-degree murder charge in Jackson County, Kansas.

Anthony Deshaun Edwards was arrested after Jackson County Sheriff’s officers responded around 2:41 p.m. on Sunday to a domestic violence call in the 14000 block of South Road, south of Mayetta.

A 911 caller reported that a woman was “lying on the floor of the residence, while the male was pacing nearby,” according to a news release.

The woman was transported to an area hospital, while Edwards was booked in Jackson County Jail. His bond is set at $250,000.

Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and the Mayetta and Hoyt fire departments assisted the sheriff’s office on the call.
