KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Leavenworth Detention Center inmate assaulted two correctional staff members on Saturday, according to a CoreCivic spokesperson.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m., and both staffers were transported to an area hospital, where they remain hospitalized.
The spokesperson said the inmate “suspected in the assault” has been isolated.
Leavenworth police and the United States Marshals Service have been notified.
