KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Leavenworth woman faces first-degree murder charges after her husband was found dead in his home after he was reported missing from work.

Alexandra Gilson, 31, is the wife of Joshua Gilson, who was found dead inside a home in the 800 block of Kiowa Street on Friday.

Alexandra Gilson also faces one count of unlawfully and knowingly giving false information to law enforcement and one count of knowingly concealing, destroying or materially altering evidence.

Jeffery Samulczyk, 36, also faces a charge of "feloniously and knowingly conceal, destroy, or materially alter evidence with the intent to prevent or hinder the apprehension or prosecution of any person" in connection with Gilson's death, according to the Leavenworth County prosecutor's office.

Joshua Gilson did not show up for work on Friday, prompting his employer to report him as missing, according to Leavenworth police.

Police said they spoke with his family and visited his home that afternoon and spoke with his wife but were not able to search the house.

A family member called the police back to the house later in the afternoon after discovering a crime scene, according to police.

When police obtained a search warrant, they found Joshua Gilson deceased on the property and ruled the death a homicide.
