KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man accused of multiple child sex crimes in Jackson County was charged Thursday for other allegations that occurred across the state line.

Brandon Grisham, 23, was charged in Johnson County this week with rape of a child under 14, and aggravated sodomy, according to court records. On Thursday afternoon, he remained jailed on a $500,000 bond.

Grisham is currently facing charges in Missouri. In late July, a Jackson County grand jury indicted Grisham on multiple counts, including attempted enticement of a child and possession of child pornography.

According to a probable cause statement written by Independence police, Grisham messaged a girl on Jan. 1 to ask for nude photos and offer her money for sex. The girl was under 15 years old, according to court records.

Grisham also sent the girl sexually explicit photos of himself, according to the probable cause statement.

On the same day he was arrested in Johnson County, Grisham's attorney filed a motion for bond modification, asking for him to be allowed to move to a Kansas City, Missouri, address located within 900 feet of a day care facility, a violation of Missouri law. Grisham was set to be evicted from his current home in Independence on Thursday, according to the court filing.

The judge denied that request.

Johnson County court documents list an Overland Park address for Grisham.

Grisham is scheduled to go on trial for the charges in Jackson County on Aug. 10, 2020. He is scheduled for a court hearing in Johnson County on Jan. 2.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story said the Jackson County judge granted the defense's motion for bond modification. It has been corrected to reflect that the judge denied the request and issued a warrant for Grisham's arrest.
