A Kansas City man has been charged in the murder of Rockey Bradley, who was shot in the parking lot of a gas station near 27th and Indiana on Aug. 24.

Terrance Blanks, 30, faces second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges.

According to court documents, Bradley and Blanks had a confrontation inside the gas station. Surveillance video showed Bradley exiting the store first. A witness told police she saw Bradley get into his truck and grab a handgun from his vehicle.

The witness said Blanks exited the business with a handgun and shot at Bradley as he sat in his truck. Bradley got out of the vehicle, the two exchanged gunfire, and Blanks ran to his car and fled the scene.

Blanks told police he got into an altercation with the victim and said Bradley knew he had a gun. According to court documents, Blanks said someone asked Bradley what he was going to do as he exited the store and Bradley said, “You’re going to see what I’m going to do.”

Blanks told police he exited the store prepared for a gun fight. He said Bradley got out of his truck so he pulled out his gun and fired. He said he was shot three times in the arm before he ran to his truck and drove away.

Blanks told police he didn’t know Bradley.

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
