KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man faces a murder charge after allegedly shooting a woman in a car in east Kansas City, Mo.

Damon Kerr, 43. is charged in Jackson County Court with second degree murder and armed criminal action, according to court documents released Tuesday.

Officers found Donna McKeown shot to death about 5:50 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2018, at 3426 East 54th St.

McKeown was in the front seat of a Dodge Avenger and still had her seat belt on, court documents state.

Police talked to Kerr about the shooting and he told officers McKeown was mad at him for getting home at 2:30 a.m.

Kerr told officers McKeown left the house and came back about three hours later, according to court documents.

He said he heard a poping sound and found McKeown shot in the car.

Detectives interviewed Kerr at police headquarters and his story changed.

He denied shooting McKeown even with evidence of a close range shooting.
