Man dies weeks after shooting in KCMO, police say

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man who was shot last month in Kansas City, Missouri, died this week from his injuries, marking the 80th homicide in what has been a violent first half of the year in the city, according to police.

Around 9:15 p.m. on May 24, officers responded to a shooting at Leeds Trafficway and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. Anton Martin, 40, was found on the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds to his chest and leg, police said.

Martin was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Police said he died as a result of his injuries late Wednesday.

Detectives processed the area after the shooting and did not find any witnesses, police said.
