KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Troopers shot a man Monday on U.S. 50 near Warrensburg, Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Bill Lowe said.

Lowe told 41 Action News troopers were assisting Lone Jack officers in the pursuit of a suspect who refused to stop for them.

The chase continued eastbound on U.S. 50 until a trooper threw a stop stick.

The suspect hit it, the crossed the median and crashed in a ditch.

When the suspect got out, he was carrying a long gun, Lowe said.

A trooper shot him, according to Lowe.

The suspect was life-flighted to a hospital. His condition wasn't clear as of 3 p.m. Monday.

No troopers were injured, Lowe said, and it was unclear if the suspect fired any shots.

The MSHP's Division of Drug and Crime Control is conducting an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
