Woman charged in Jackson County murder, assault

KANSAS CITY, Mo.UPDATE 5 PM 10/18/2017: A woman has been charged in a shooting that left one man dead and another injured.

Stephanie Sandstrom, 30, is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. 

The gunfire occurred about 5 a.m. Sunday in a house near 11th and Ewing Avenue. The wife of the man who was injured told investigators that her husband and his brother were on the front porch of their home when a woman came up and shot them. 

According to court documents, the man who was injured identified Sandstrom as the person who shot him and the deceased victim. The injured victim's wife told police that Sandstrom used to be their neighbor and she blamed them for being evicted.

When Sandstrom was arrested, police found a loaded .22 caliber revolver in her possession, one spent shell casing and 44 live rounds.
