OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Overland Park Police Department has captured a man who managed to escape police after being placed in handcuffs Sunday night.
Police told 41 Action News that Adam C. Scott was being arrested Sunday night on an outstanding warrant in the area of 146th and Horton. He was handcuffed but did not get in the police car.
Police looked for him from that moment until just before 5 p.m. Monday, when they located him in the area of 149th and Horton.
Lakewood Elementary was on a brief lockdown. The school district said it was notified of the search at about 2:50 p.m. today. Students who normally take the bus were dismissed as normal, but walkers and bikers were held back for their parents to come pick them up.
Police said during the search that Scott was not considered dangerous and they didn’t believe he was armed.
Scott is the same man who stole an airport shuttle from KCI and drove it to the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport, where he proceeded to walk onto the tarmac and into a plane that was preparing for takeoff. The pilot said he found Scott in the cockpit playing with the controls.
He violated his parole on August 17, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on August 21.
He will eventually be booked into the Platte County jail on a $10,000 bond.
