KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
Police say Charles Courtois, 74, of Independence, was crossing the road near 23rd and Norton when he was hit by an eastbound Kia Rio.
Courtois died on the scene.
The driver of the Kia remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The driver of the Kia was not hurt.
