Police: Girl shot Wednesday was going to play at park

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In an article posted on its website Thursday, the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department said a child shot Wednesday night was on her way to play at a playground.

In the article, police said the child, a 4-year-old girl, suffered non life-threatening injuries when she was shot in the leg.

KCPD said officers on patrol near Pat Clark Park at 43rd and South Benton found the girl bleeding in her mother’s arms.

The gunfire that struck the girl came from the occupants of two vehicles that were firing shots at each other, according to the police story.
