KCPD IDs victim in south Kansas City homicide from Monday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police have launched a homicide investigation after a victim was shot and killed Monday morning.

KCPD officers were dispatched around 11 a.m. to the 11000 block of Hickman Mills Drive, just west of the Interstate 49 and Red Bridge Road interchange, on a reported shooting.

Police located a gunshot victim. identified Tuesday as 35-year-old Rickey Arrington, in the parking lot of a McDonald's near that location, which had its parking lot entrances blocked by crime scene tape.

KCPD said a person of interest has been identified in the case "and are hopeful for charges soon," according to a statement from police Tuesday afternoon.

The homicide is the 152nd of the year in Kansas City, Missouri.
