The man who police say used a paintball gun to steal medication at a Liberty Walgreen's is now facing first degree robbery charges.

The criminal complaint says Spencer P. Gunn, 28, forcibly stole pharmaceuticals at the store on Friday morning.

What happened

At about 6:46 a.m., Liberty police officers said they responded to the Walgreen’s Pharmacy at 1191 W. Kansas to investigate an armed robbery that had just occurred. Store employees caught the suspect and held him until the arrival of police, according to a news release from the Liberty Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers arrested the suspect, now identified as Gunn of Cameron, Mo. Employees reported the suspect used a paintball gun to rob the store of methadone, which was recovered at the scene.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

Walgreen's released the following statement about the robbery:

"We do not comment on criminal activity in our stores, other than to say we cooperate with law enforcement in their investigations."
