Kansas City police are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead near East 45th Street and Chestnut Avenue.
Authorities were called to the scene around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning after shots were fired in the area.
When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Gerald Brown of Kansas City, lying in the street after being shot numerous times.
Brown was transported to the hospital and declared deceased upon arrival.
There is no suspect information at this time. Police believe the shooting was related to a party at a nearby residence.
A minor disturbance was caused when police arrived and one officer was assaulted. An arrest was made during that separate incident.
