Substitute teacher charged after school incident

A 61-year-old substitute teacher is charged after asking two girls to send him pictures of themselves, according to authorities.

Russell Bannister, of Peculiar, face two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct.

The incident allegedly happened Thursday at Belton Middle School/Freshman Center at 107 W. Pirate Parkway in Belton.

Police said Bannister allegedly gave two girls, ages 13 and 14, his phone number and asked the girls to send him pictures of himself.

One of the girls alerted her mother, who immediately called the school.

A school resource officer led Bannister from the building. He later came to the police station, was processed and posted a $1,000 bond.
