KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Southwest Airlines flight heading to Chicago was diverted back to Kansas City International Airport on Monday afternoon, a Southwest spokesperson said.

The decision was made after Southwest Airlines Flight 2080 suffered a possible bird strike.

A different aircraft will complete the trip to the Chicago Midway International Airport, the spokesperson said.

The aircraft that collided with the bird will undergo a maintenance review.
