KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 12-hour standoff in rural Douglas County, Kansas, ended peacefully Sunday.
Sheriff’s deputies from responded to a field near the intersection of West 143rd Street and County Line Road around 7 a.m. to investigate reports of a man armed with a gun and “potentially … a danger to himself,” the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies communicated with the man, who remained in the field throughout the day.
He finally surrendered safely around 7:15 p.m.
Johnson County deputies also responded to the initial call.
