Suspects in custody after leading KCPD on chase

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two suspects are in custody after leading Kansas City, Missouri, police officers on a chase.

Just before 10 a.m. police were notified of a stolen pickup from an armed carjacking that happened earlier in the morning in the 2400 block of Agnes Avenue heading south on 71 Highway with speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour.

During the chase, two minor crashes occurred, though no serious injuries were reported.

One involved police and happened at 23rd Street and Cleveland Avenue.

Investigators determined the police car was operating with lights and sirens but struck a Toyota sedan. The officer sustained minor injuries and the female driver and 8-month-old child in the Toyota were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The other collision involved the suspect vehicle and happened at 39th Street and Prospect Avenue.

The chase ended when the suspects crashed for good near E. 49th Street and Olive Street just after 10:15 a.m.
