OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Two teenagers were injured, including one who was shot in the head, during an altercation Saturday night on the grounds of an Overland Park school.

Police were called to the 6600 block of Edgewater Drive, which is adjacent to Lakewood Middle School, shortly after 9 p.m., according to an Overland Park Police Department spokesman.

Five juveniles were involved in an armed disturbance in the parking lot at the school. Several people in nearby apartments called police after hearing multiple gunshots.

One teenage male suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the head and another teenage male was pistol whipped during the incident.

Both teenagers — ages 15 and 16 years old — are students at Blue Valley High School.

Police are still looking for the suspects in the incident, who were identified by the victims, but do not believe the public is in danger.

There was no activity at the school, which was closed at the time of the incident.

A female who was with the two injured teen boys was uninjured.
