KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The trial for a man accused of killing two women whose remains were found in 2017 will take place in Cass County, but the jury will come from another jurisdiction.

Defense attorneys for Kylr Yust, who is accused in the deaths of Jessica Runions and Kara Kopetsky, had argued that the trial should be moved due to the publicity surrounding his case. Late last week, attorneys for both sides agreed that the trial will take place in Cass County but the jury will come from St. Charles County.

The remains of Kopetsky, 17, and Runions, 21, were found in spring 2017 in a field in rural Cass County.

Yust is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of abandoning a corpse. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in June.

A pre-trial conference for Yust is set for Oct. 1, where a trial date could be set.
