3 arrested in stolen SUV with 17 stolen guns, two crossbows, meth

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A special police unit arrested three people Dec. 18 with 17 stolen guns, stolen jewelry and meth inside the SUV in which they were riding.

High-level criminal activity detectives got a tip that two men and a woman were in a stolen Ford Explorer, according to a Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department release.

The tipster said the trio also had a cache of stolen weapons.

KCPD detectives along with Independence police officers and U.S. Marshals stopped the SUV in Independence, according to the release.

Among the stash of stolen guns were an assortment of rifles and handguns, two crossbows, a stolen television and stolen jewelry, police said.

The two men are being held on federal parole violations and could be charged as felons in possession of firearms, according to KCPD.

The woman in the SUV has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
