KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two men face six charges apiece in Cass County Circuit Court related to a shooting last week at Walmart in Raymore.

Joseph Sampson, 22, faces three counts of accessory assault and three counts of armed criminal action for shooting another man in the parking lot.

Sampson allegedly was riding in the backseat of a car Scott McRoy, 26, drove Aug. 6 to the Walmart in Raymore.

Another man got into the passenger seat of McRoy’s car in the parking lot. That’s when Sampson hit the victim with a handgun then shot him twice, according to Cass County court records.

McRoy also faces three counts of accessory assault and three counts of armed criminal action.

The shooting victim, who suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the shoulder and leg, told police he thought Sampson wanted money, according to court documents.

Overland Park police attempted to arrest Sampson on Aug. 8 in connection with an unrelated felony case. He has previous convictions for marijuana possession and two instances of tampering with an automobile, which landed him a four-year prison sentence.
