Woman fatally shot Tuesday in 2600 block of Quindaro in KCK

UDPATE, Sept, 2. | KCK police identified the victim in this shooting as 26-year-old Anisha Rucker.

ORIGINAL STORY, Sept, 1. | A woman is dead after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City, Kansas.

KCK police responded just before 1 p.m. to the 2600 block of Quindaro Avenue on a reported shooting and located a woman on the sidewalk "with an apparent gunshot wound," according to a news release.

The woman, who was in her 20s, was transported to an area hospital, where she later died.

Police said an altercation began after several people drove to the area and began speaking to a resident, who was on a nearby porch.

"The confrontation quickly escalated to the point where gunfire was exchanged between the parties," the release stated.

After the woman was hit, police said, the other involved parties left the scene and arrived at an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The resident also suffered minor injuries.
