Woman shot, killed at Lee's Summit salon; suspect takes his own life

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to 41 Action News the suspect in a deadly shooting at a salon took his own life. 

Lee’s Summit police officers were called to Sola Salons on Northwest Murray Road on a report of shots fired just before 7:45 a.m. Friday.

When they arrived, they found a woman dead inside the salon. 

Police identified the victim as 45-year-old Chantille Truss. The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Paul Truss. The two were married and were from Kansas City, Missouri. 

Lee’s Summit police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident. 

Carmen Spaeth from the Lee's Summit Police Department said there were other employees and customers inside the salon, which was open for business, at the time of the shooting.

The witnesses helped police identify a suspect.

Deputies found the suspect's car near Longview Marina and Lake. Once police surrounded the vehicle, the suspect shot and killed himself, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.  

Officers continue to investigate.
