Someone in Greenwood, Missouri blanketed a neighborhood with hundreds of fliers, claiming the neighborhood was holding a “National Socialist Movement Introductory meeting.”
Many in Greenwood are outraged, including Mayor Levi Weaver.
“We're a safe community, we are a very open community, we're a very diverse community and we won't tolerate behavior like this,” said Weaver.
The flier lists one neighbor’s address as the host location.
41 Action News spoke with the couple, Kenny and Kim Zoeller, who said they’ve been targeted before. They believe the real reason for the flier stems from a neighborhood dispute.
“I don't want to make this a personal thing right now because this involves the whole community,” said Kenny Zoeller. “This affects people's lives, property values, how they live and how they raise their children, and there are people around here that are genuinely scared."
The description of the meeting is full of discriminatory and derogatory words.
“We believe our neighborhood should be secure from the threat of outsider interference. We believe the White Race is the only race qualified to be in charge of our HOA. We do not want any religion besides Christianity to be represented in our neighborhood. We do not want any Muslims, Jewish people, Negroes to be at our pool, sharing our common areas, or representing us in our community in anyway. We want our children to be safe. We will unite, have a white pride neighborhood parade, plan activates for white Christians, fly our flags proudly, and let all know that we believe in defending WHITE LIVES THAT MATTER THE MOST, like our President believes.”
Police believe the meeting is a hoax. The department is fully investigating the flier and working to learn who is behind its creation.
The Zoeller’s said the outpouring of support for them has been overwhelming.
“We've had people come to our house, knock on our door, brought us donuts,” Zoeller said. “That's the kind of community this is and that's the kind of community we wanted to live in.”
