KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A local organization is helping the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Saturday, Giving Hope passed out more than 250 bags of food and necessities. The items were provided by Harvesters and Convoy of Hope.

"It's a drive-thru situation where they are getting canned goods, they're getting cereal, toilet paper, a little bit of meat, all kinds of things that hopefully will benefit the community,” said Ken Kendall, Village West Church Pastor.

Organizers hope to serve as many as 1,000 people.

We've created a Facebook group, We're Open Kansas City, where members of the community can post businesses serving their community.
