A 45-year-old Liberty man was found guilty of first degree murder for killing his wife.
The jury deliberated for about four hours before convicting Thomas Santamaria of the 2015 murder of Yuvett Santamaria.
Thomas Santamaria was found covered in blood, sleeping next to his wife's body on the night of the murder, officials said.
Witnesses told police Thomas Santamaria was upset, after hearing his wife may have been involved with another man.
Police said when they took Thomas into custody he whispered, "I guess I won."
The Jackson County Medical Examiner ruled Yuvett's death a homicide by blunt force, strangulation and/or smothering.
Thomas Santamaria remains in jail in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bond.
He will be back in court Nov. 2 for possible sentencing and faces life in prison without parole.
