1 dead after crashing into house in Miami County

UPDATE, April 22 | The deceased driver was identified as 29-year-old Burgandy Rose Thomas of Peculiar, Missouri.

ORIGINAL STORY, April 20 | One person died after losing control while driving and crashing into a home in Miami County, Kansas.

The Miami County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a car into house with a person trapped inside at around 4:38 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived, they found a grey 2018 Dodge Charger flipped on its side near 223rd street and 3rd Street in Bucyrus.

An initial investigation found the driver was heading east on 223rd Street.

The driver went over train tracks and lost control and went into a ditch. The driver was also airborne after losing control.

They then crossed 3rd Street in the air, striking a tree and the roof of the home. The car landed on its side and trapped the driver who died at the scene.

Two people inside the home were not injured.
