1 dead after fire breaks out in Pleasant Hill home

Pleasant Hill and Central Cass Fire Departments were called to the scene of a deadly fire on E. 203rd St. in Pleasant Hill Friday morning.

According to the fire department, one man is dead and another man was able to get out of the house with minor injuries.

Officers on scene told 41 Action News the couple woke up smelling smoke, but only one was able to escape the flames.

The house is completely gutted due to fire damage and is unsafe to go inside. 

The Red Cross is providing food and lodging to the surviving man.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
