KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person died in a rollover crash Friday evening in Kansas City, Missouri, on Missouri 152 Highway near North Indiana Avenue.
According to KCMO police, authorities responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:35 p.m. Friday.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a black Hyundai Tucson exited westbound Missouri 152 Highway onto North Indiana Avenue.
According to police, the Hyundai remained at the intersection while the traffic signal was green. Other cars drove around the vehicle as it was stopped.
When the light turned red, the Hyundai proceeded through the intersection, continued onto the westbound ramp, went off the roadway, traveled up an embankment, and hit a large rock.
The vehicle overturned due to the impact, police said.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Their identity has not been revealed.
The investigation remains ongoing.
