KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials confirmed one person was killed in a crash Tuesday morning.
It happened as the car exited Interstate 435 onto southbound U.S. 69 Highway in Overland Park, Kansas, just before 7 a.m.
Police said the driver, later identified as Robert E. Klusman of Lenexa, Kansas, lost control as he merged and hit the cement barrier.
After the initial impact, his was hit by another vehicle traveling south.
The second car hit Klusman's vehicle on the driver's side.
Klusman died as a result of the collision. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
The exit from I-435 to 69 southbound was closed.
