KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is investigating after a person died in a crash on Interstate 70 near Pittman Road.
Police responded to a two vehicle crash between a car and a tractor-trailer at around 3:20 on Saturday morning.
An initial investigation indicated the victim, a 28-year-old man from Osawatomie, Kansas, was driving west when his tire blew out.
The man stopped his vehicle in the outside traffic lane and exited.
Shortly after, the tractor-trailer also heading west swerved in efforts to avoid hitting the Chrysler and hit the man.
The driver of the Chrysler, identified as Mark A. Johnson, died on the scene.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured, though a passenger in the trailer was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
