1 dead in house fire near 42nd and Euclid

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UPDATE, 8/5 | The Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department has identified the victim as Victor Coburn. The cause of the fire was listed as undetermined.

EARLIER | A 65-year-old man is dead after a house fire near 42nd and Euclid in Kansas City, Missouri.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 12:40 p.m. Friday.

KCFD Deputy Chief James Dean said the man was in an upstairs bedroom.

Other family members in the house smelled smoke but didn't see fire anywhere on the lower level.

When they went upstairs, they found his room was on fire and called the fire department.

Dean said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

No firefighters were injured.
