KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police said one person died Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash on the 7th Street Trafficway bridge over the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas.
First responders were called to the crash shortly before 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Osage Street and 7th Street Trafficway in the Armourdale neighborhood of KCK.
According to KCKPD, a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck two southbound vehicles. The driver of the first southbound vehicle that was struck died from injuries received in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle believed to have caused the fatal wreck fled on foot.
Motorists are advised to take an alternate route to cross the Kansas River, which remained closed in both directions at 11 a.m. on Monday.
