KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead after a Wednesday crash involving two tractor-trailers.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, David A. Seward, 47, was killed in the wreck. He was from Odessa, Missouri.

The report states it happened at 3 p.m. on I-70 westbound at the 31.2 mile marker. That’s in Lafayette County between Oak Grove and Bates City.

MSHP investigators believe the crash occurred when Seward’s semi struck the back of another semi. The driver of that vehicle was not injured, according to the report. Both drivers had been wearing seatbelts.

Seward was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In addition to MSHP, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and police from Odessa, Bates City, and Oak Grove assisted with the crash and investigation.

The highway was shut down for a period of time.
