KC police investigate 2 separate shootings overnight; 1 victim dies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man shot at East Ninth Street and Troost Avenue on Saturday died at the hospital hours later, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Around 2:15 a.m., Saturday, police responded to a shooting at East Ninth Street and Troost Avenue. The victim was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. He died shortly before 9 a.m.

Police on Tuesday identified the victim as Anthony Rice, 31.

No suspect information was available, police said.

Just over two hours after that shooting, officers were called to another shooting in the 1600 block of East 12th Street.

One person suffered serious/critical injuries, police said. No suspect information was released in that shooting.

There was no indication that the shootings are related.
