KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people were taken to the hospital, including one person who had to be rescued from the water, after a multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 435 southbound in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday morning.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a trailer stalled in the far lane of I-435 near Front Street and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
One person, who was outside of the trailer, jumped out of the way to avoid being hit and ended up in the Blue River, according to MoDOT.
That person was rescued and taken to the hospital, along with another person who was injured in the wreck.
Southbound lanes of the interstate was closed for about an hour as crews cleared the scene.
