KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man was charged in a deadly shooting that left his wife dead, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Monday afternoon.

Larnell McDonald faces 2nd degree murder charges and armed criminal action in connection to his wife Kimah L. McDonald's death.

Independence Police Officers were called to the 2600 block of S. Arlington Avenue about 9:40 p.m. Sunday on a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival police heard one gun shot and found Kimah McDonald inside the residence with a gun shot wound.

Police say Kimah texted her brother that Larnell had been threatening her.

Larnell told police the gun had accidentally gone off.
