KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An 11-year-old Liberty girl was critically injured after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle, police said.

Around 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Liberty police officers responded to the accident at Southview Drive and Sherrill Avenue. Police said the girl rode her bike onto Southview Drive and was struck by a 1993 Toyota pickup truck traveling southbound.

The girl was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. On Monday afternoon, she remained hospitalized, police said.

The driver of the pickup, a 41-year-old Liberty man, was the only person in the vehicle and is cooperating with police.
