KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people are dead and three injured following an overnight crash in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kansas City police say that just before 2 a.m., a car was traveling east on 12th Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and crossed over the double yellow lines. It collided with an SUV traveling in the other direction, then hit a utility pole.
The driver and passenger of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The three people in the SUV were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
Police are investigating whether driver impairment was a cause of the crash.
