2 dead after crash in Lafayette County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people are dead after a crash in Lafayette County.

It happened at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, on Route D just south of Route FF.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol, the crash happened when the driver of a truck failed to negotiate a curve. The truck traveled off the road and struck a sign, then went airborne, hitting a tree before overturning.

39-year-old Sean Standeford of Oak Grove, Mo. and 28-year-old Samantha Schell of Holden, Mo., were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
