KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two Strasburg students were killed in a head-on car crash Tuesday in Cass County, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Strasburg C-3 School District.
The two students, a 12-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were in a car that crossed the center line and hit a Ford F-250 pickup truck, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. on Missouri 58, east of Strasburg.
The driver of the truck had injuries that were not life-threatening.
On Wednesday, the school district said it was "deeply saddened by the loss of two of our students."
"Both will be missed and it has shook our school greatly," the district said in a statement. "...Our prayers and sympathies go out to their family and loved ones."
The district said that counselors were made available at the school for students and staff working through the grieving process.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the investigation of the crash.
