2 dead after single-car crash in KCK

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people are dead after a crash in Kansas City, Kansas, early Tuesday morning.

Police said officers were sent to the area of 55th Street and Freeman Avenue just after 2:30 a.m.

Their initial investigation showed that one car was heading south on 55th when the driver lost control, left the road and hit a tree.

The driver and passenger both died at the scene. Police identified the victims as 39-year-old Donald E. Norris and 35-year-old Ericka Y. Jones, both of Kansas City, Kansas.

Police said they were not wearing seatbelts.

The KCKPD Traffic Support Unit and Critical Collision Response Team are investigating.
