KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County, Missouri, Fire Protection District says 25 freight train cars derailed east of Warrensburg early Thursday morning.
According to a news release, Union Pacific reported the derailment shortly after 4 a.m.
Approximately 25 cars derailed and are in a field between Missouri 13 Highway and NE 501 Road.
No injuries were reported, nor was there any loss of containment of hazardous materials.
All roads in the area are open.
The derailment forced the cancellation of the Thursday morning Missouri River Runner Amtrak service, which uses the track.
